Fabulous Gentlemen, the Ladies and Stains

Set your DVR's, music fans. Ladies and Gentlemen, the Fabulous Stains will be shown on January 30th at 2:30AM EST on TCM.

This 1981 film about a teenage female punk band (led by Diane Lane and Laura Dern) also features members of the Sex Pistols, the Clash, and the Tubes acting as members of the "Looters" and the "Metal Corpses". Black Randy and the Metrosquad also make an appearance. Fans of "Night Flight" may remember seeing this movie on cable in the 1980's, but it was unavailable on DVD until a few months ago.

Also features Ray Winstone (looking so downright boyish that I didn't even recognize him till halfway through the movie) as the lead singer of The Losers

"The Looters" is the band that Ray Winstone sings for in the film (backed by two Sex Pistols and one Clash member). I read on IMDB that they reshot the ending to the film three years later, and Laura Dern had grown a full foot taller! Funny stuff.

Watched this last night. A few laughs, but overall cheese. The Metro Squad segment was excellent, especially 'Mexican Randy' as possible opening act for the Stains.
Kinda wanted to see the Smears.

Not to sound like debbie downer, but the movie fucking blows. The only part worth noting is the 30 seconds that Black Randy & The Metrosquad are on screen blowing through "I Slept In An Arcade." I gave the movie a try, I really did, but it fucking blows.
